The three days Volcanoes national park specifically take you to the Virunga ranges shared by the three countries of Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Volcanoes national park is the only park in Rwanda that homes the endangered mountain gorillas. The trip adds you to the long list of millions of world travelers that have trekked the mountain gorilla in Volcanoes national park as well as explore the unique Ibyawachu cultural center, a one stop center that exhibits all the cultural tribes in Rwanda.
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park Rwanda
On arrival at the airport in Kigali town, be received by our knowledgeable and experienced guide. He will brief you about whole the trip movements and then start the journey to Volcanoes national park. The journey takes about 4 hours but it’s also an experience of its own. It gives you spectacular views of the Virunga ranges. The journey will be extremely flexible, having several stopovers at places of interest. Arrival will be in the evening for checking in, relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Experience
Wake up to a palatable breakfast and quickly transfer to the park headquarters to catch up with a simple briefing about gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park. Trekking the gorillas involves a simple hike on the lower slopes of mountain Huye, Bisoke or Karisimbi depending on the gorilla group you are looking for. On finding the apes, you have one hour of spectating these wonderful apes in the forest, how they carry on their daily lives. On a lucky day you can even meet some forest elephants and buffaloes as well as other primates. When the one hour elapses, slope back to the headquarters and back to the lodeg for lunch and relaxation.
In the afternoon after lunch and relaxation you will visit the Ibyawachu cultural village. It’s one stop center that exhibits all the three ethnic groups in Rwanda, the Twa, Hutu and the Tutsi. Enjoy the traditional performances, local delicacies as well as having personal interactions with the local people.
Day 3: Departure
Early morning after breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive back to Kampala or straight to the airport for the flight back home.
