This is one trip that just few adventurous travelers have tried. It allows you trek four different gorilla families in Uganda. This trip will particularly head to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. You will trek the gorillas four different times, encounter the Batwa people and also visit lake Bunyonyi; Africa’s second deepest lake.
Day 1: Fly to Bwindi (Nkuringo Sector) & Afternoon Nature Walk
After breakfast, our driver guide will pick you from the hotel where you slept the previous night and transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your scheduled flight to Bwindi impenetrable national park that prime home to mountain gorillas in Africa. The flight saves you from the 9 hour long journey and gives you spectacular panoramic views of the beautiful nature of the country.
On arrival at the lodge, just check in, some refreshments and lunch and go for a nature walk in the impenetrable forest to have real closest encounters even with the slightest nature insights. On a lucky day you will meet with the forest elephants, buffaloes and several primates. Spotting birds, insects, butterflies and tree species is a guarantee.
Day 2: Nkuringo Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Rushaga Sector
Immediately after an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefing from the local ranger guide about the dos and donts of trekking the gorillas, be divided into groups of eight, the maximum number of people to visit a gorilla family per a day. Now enter into the forest to start on the hunt for the allocated gorilla family in Bwindi, an experience so awesome.
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi indulges walking through the rugged terrains of the forest, following the gorillas through the thick lush with slippery terrains. Note that trekking these mighty apes takes 1-8 hours, it depends on the luck of the trekkers that day and the movement of the gorillas.
In the afternoon after lunch go for a cultural encounter with the Batwa people. Experience how the first inhabitants of the forest used to hunt, learn how to make fire and cook locally. You will taste the local cuisines and enjoy the traditional performances. Then return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight
Day 3: Rushaga Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Early morning, still have an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a simple orientation from the park ranger. After being divided into groups of eight trekkers to visit a gorilla family per day, enter the jungle and trek the mighty apes. On meeting the forest giants, spend one magical hour in their presence, watching them carry on their normal lives and taking pictures. On this trek, you will encounter a different gorilla group.
In the late afternoon, you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale. You will have an evening boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi to some of its 29 islands.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Ruhija Sector & Transfer to Buhoma Sector
On this day, it will still be gorilla trekking, but this time encountering your third gorilla family in Bwindi impenetrable forest, an experience that just a few tourists have experienced. Still wake up very early in the morning, drive to the park headquarters for briefing and trek the gorillas in the forest. After the trek, you will transfer to your lodge in Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Day 5: Buhoma Gorilla Trekking
Today you will trek the fourth gorilla family in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and this will be in the oldest gorilla trekking sector, Buhoma. After this encounter, you will return to your lodge and relax.
Day 6: Fly to Entebbe
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kihihi Airstrip where you will catch your domestic flight to Entebbe International Airport from.
