The 3 days Rwanda gorillas and golden monkeys’ safari in Rwanda take you to Volcanoes national park. This is Rwanda’s most visited national park for its thrilling gorilla trekking experience and the golden monkey tracking. It’s the only park in Rwanda with both these amazing animals. So these three days will reward you up close encounters with both the gorillas and the golden monkeys.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes national park
Upon arrival at the airport, our driver guide will pick you up, brief you about the trip and transfer you to Volcanoes national park. You will drive through Kigali city as the guide shows you around depending on the time of arrival. Reaching the park will be in the evening to check in and have an overnight in preparation for the next day.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Iby’Iwacu cultural center
Early morning, have breakfast and walk to the park headquarters for a simple orientation about gorilla trekking. The local ranger guide will take you through the dos and donts of gorilla trekking. Be divided into groups of eight trekkers, the maximum number of trekkers to visit a gorilla family per day. Now enter into the forest to hunt out for the endangered apes of the forest.
Walk through the slippery trails on the rugged terrain, avoiding thorny trees and having to hold onto tree branches for support. On finally meeting gorillas, spend one hour watching them carry on their daily lives, feeding and playing on tree branches. You can take as many pictures as you want as long as the camera has no flash. After that amazing hour, return back to the headquarters and to the lodge for lunch.
In the evening visit the Iby’Iwacu cultural center for a cultural retreat with the people of Rwanda. The one stop cultural center exhibits all Rwanda’s ethnic groups, from the Twa, Hutu to Tutsi, nothing you can fail to see. Enjoying the cultural performances and tasting the local cuisines is a guarantee. Returning to the lodge will be late in the evening.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and departure
Wake up to a very delicious breakfast and walk to the park headquarters for the golden monkey tracking experience. Unlike gorilla trekking, tracking the golden monkeys is way easier the fact that they stay in the same place for some time. The guide takes you directly to the golden monkeys. On meeting them, the forest immediately becomes active with these beautiful monkeys jumping everywhere, with even some jump onto you. It’s always an amazing time with the golden monkeys in the forest.
After an hour elapsing in the presence of the golden monkeys, slope back to the headquarters and to the lodge for lunch and check out. Immediately start the journey back to Kigali. That will be the end of the trip.
