The 7 days safari take you to Bwindi impenetrable national park by a domestic flight. The park is a prime gorilla tracking destination in the country. Then you will visit Queen Elizabeth national park do game drives in search of tree climbing lions and do a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel that joins lakes Edward and George after which you will transfer to the primate capital of the world- Kibale forest national park and a tour in Fort Portal.
Day 1 – Fly to Bwindi impenetrable national park
Wake up early and transfer to Entebbe international airport or Kajjansi airstrip for a scheduled flight to Kisoro. On reaching our representative or driver guide will be on ground to transfer you to your lodge. Upon arrival at the lodge, refresh, have lunch and in the afternoon do a community visit to the Batwa. These are believed to be the first inhabitants of the impenetrable forest. See how they carry on their daily lives, enjoy traditional performances and taste the local cuisines. Returning to the lodge will be in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 – Gorilla tracking
Wake up early and have breakfast. You will carry packed lunch and your driver guide will drive you to the briefing center by 7.30 am you will be briefed by UWA ranger and at 8.30 am you will be led into the forest by a ranger guide and start on your trek. Bwindi impenetrable national park is the best place to track these endangered apes with half of the remaining population of mountain gorillas in the world. The activity can take about 4 to 8 hours depending on the family of gorillas you are tracking and it requires normal fitness because it involves hikes. After tracking return to the lodge and have a relaxed evening.
Day 3 – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth (Ishasha sector)
Have an early breakfast and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park. The park is about 70 Km from Bwindi Impenetrable national park. You will drive through Ishasha sector as you look out for tree climbing lions. The sector has several other wildlife species like the buffaloes, topis, elephants and waterbucks among others. After an enroute lunch, proceed to the lodge in Queen Elizabeth national park.
Day 4 – Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel
Rise early have a quick breakfast and embark on a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. The plains host a mating ground for Uganda Kobs and is home to jungle kings and queens (Lions). The park is the most famous and is known for hosting the largest number of Hippos and the Kazinga channel that joins lakes Edward and George. You will have a half day to enjoy this medley of wonders. Expect to see a variety of wildlife from Elephants, waterbucks, buffaloes, lions, and elands to a variety of birds. After the drive return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon embark on a 2-hour cruise on the 8-meter-deep and 40 km long Kazinga channel. The cruise will give you a chance to encounter variety of water birds like the African Fish eagle, African Jacana, Pelicans, African Spoonbill and a concentration of animals that come to the banks to drink like buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles among other. You will then drive to the lodge for dinner and over night.
Day 5 – Transfer to Kibale National park and do a short tour in Fort Portal
Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and transfer to Kibale. The park is about a 3hr drive from Queen Elizabeth National park. On reaching Fortportal, you will do a short tour before checking on at your lodge. Fortportal is a tourism city surrounded by craters and Rwenzori Mountains of the moon. You will visit “amabeere ganyina mwiru”, Karambi royal tombs and the Tooro palace. After have lunch and transfer to your lodge. In Kibale.
Day 6 – Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi wetland community Visit
Have and Early breakfast at the lodge, and your driver guide will transfer you to Kanyanchu (briefing point) where you will meet UWA rangers and guides that will brief you about the do and don’ts while tracking these apes. After you will be led into the forest by a ranger guide to these apes. The trek goes through developed trails in the rainforest as the birds sing.
The forest is home to 13 primate species and it will offer you variety from its 350 bird species, butterflies and unique botany. After a challenging walk in the forest and meeting the chimps, spend one hour in their presence, watching them carry on their daily lives, feeding and jumping from one tree branch to the other. You can take as many pictures as you want as long as the camera doesn’t have a flash.
From the tracking have lunch and, in the afternoon visit Bigodi wetland. Bigodi wetland is managed by local community members who provide guiding services under KAFRED and are aiming at the sustainable use of the wetland for tourism and community development.
Day 7 – Transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe
Have breakfast at the lodge and hit the road back to Kampala. You will drive through the tea estate covered plains. You will have lunch en route and arrive in Kampala in the late afternoon. The driver will drop you at the airport or lodge depending on your flight arrangement.
