Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be picked up by your experienced guide. After a short briefing about the trip, you will begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Enjoy the five-hour drive with beautiful views of the Virunga mountain ranges. You will cross the border into Uganda and continue to Bwindi, the main home of mountain gorillas in Africa.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Visit
Today is your gorilla trekking day in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Wake up early for breakfast and then head to the park headquarters for a briefing about the trek. The ranger guide will explain the rules and what to expect during the hike.
You will then enter the forest to search for the gorillas. Trekking in Bwindi involves walking through thick forest trails that can be slippery, using tree branches and walking sticks for support. When you finally meet the gorillas, you will spend one full hour with them, watching the silverback and the young ones play among the trees. It is always a special experience.
In the evening, visit the Batwa community to learn about their traditional way of life before they were resettled outside the forest. You will enjoy cultural performances, taste local food, and listen to stories from the Batwa people about their lives in the forest.
Day 3: Drive Back to Kigali
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kigali. This marks the end of your 3-day Bwindi safari from Kigali.
