Detailed 3-Day Mgahinga Gorilla Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park & Nature Walk
At the airport, you will be received by our experienced driver-guide. Alternatively, if you spent the previous night in a hotel, you will be picked up from there.
You will be briefed on the entire trip’s itinerary and transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your scheduled flight to Mgahinga National Park.
The flight offers spectacular and panoramic views of the natural beauty that Uganda boasts.
Upon arrival, check in at the lodge, enjoy some refreshments, and have lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a nature walk in Mgahinga, which offers stunning views of the lush greenery and several mountain ranges in the Virunga Massif.
You may encounter several primates on the trail and, if you’re lucky, even spot forest elephants and buffaloes.
Return to the lodge in the late evening for dinner and to stay overnight in preparation for the next day.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Community Walk
Today, you will wake up early in the morning for breakfast before hurrying to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking in Mgahinga National Park.
The local ranger guide will explain the do’s and don’ts of gorilla trekking and after you will be allowed to visit the single gorilla family in Mgahinga.
Trekking these apes in Mgahinga involves a relatively easy hike on the lower slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes in the park.
Upon finally encountering the gorillas, you will spend one hour with them, observing their behavior and taking as many pictures as you wish, provided your camera does not use flash.
In the evening, after lunch and some relaxation at the lodge, visit the Batwa community within Kisoro for a cultural experience with the ancient people of the forest.
This visit allows you to enjoy traditional experiences by the locals and taste the local cuisine if possible.
The Batwa are among the most hospitable people you will ever meet in Uganda.
Day 3: Fly back to Entebbe
After an early breakfast, you will fly back to Entebbe to mark the end of your trip.
