This 3-Day Exclusive Gorilla Safari in Uganda offers a Fly-In Adventure to Bwindi, saving you from the long 9-hour drive from Kampala to Bwindi by road. The trip allows you to trek the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat and also meet the Batwa Pygmies of the forest.
Detailed 3-Day Exclusive Gorilla Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
In the early morning, our driver-guide will pick you up from the hotel where you spent the previous night. You will be briefed about the trip’s itinerary and then depart for Entebbe International Airport. Fly to Kisoro/Kihihi at 7 am with Aerolink; your arrival will be at 8:30 am. Upon arrival, you will be driven to the lodge for refreshments and breakfast.
In the afternoon, after lunch and some relaxation, take a nature walk through the Buhoma waterfall trail. Walk through the bamboo zone, spot various bird species — over 350 species, butterflies, and different tree species. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner, relaxation, and overnight as you prepare for the next day.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Have an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters at 7 am for a gorilla trekking briefing by the local ranger, who will cover the do’s and don’ts of trekking in the forest. From there, enter the forest to begin your search for the mountain gorillas.
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi involves walking through the impenetrable forest on slippery trails and dodging thorny trees on unclearly paved paths. Upon meeting the apes, spend one magical hour with the mountain gorillas, watching them play with each other, feed, and observing the mighty Silverbacks aggressively watch over their family. It’s such an amazing time.
Gorilla trekking can take anywhere from one to six hours. On a lucky day, trekkers may spot the gorillas in just one hour, while others may meet them after 5 hours of trekking in the forest.
Day 3: Fly back to Entebbe
IIn the morning, after breakfast, set out for the airstrip and fly back to Entebbe. This marks the end of the three-day Bwindi flying safari in Uganda.
