The 3 days gorillas and golden monkeys flying safari in Uganda particularly take you to Mgahinga national park in south western Uganda at the border of Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Its one of the few short trips that allow you trek the gorillas and well as the golden monkeys in their natural forest.
Day 1: Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You will be picked from your hotel by our experienced driver guide. He will briefly take you through the trip movements as he drives to Kajjansi airfield for your flight to Mgahinga national park. Use a chartered or scheduled flight, it saves you from the ten hour long journey by road, having stunning panoramic views of the country.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga
Waking up to the beautiful breeze of the forest for an early breakfast and set to the park headquarters for a simple orientation by the park ranger guide. Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga involves walking through the thick forest, in slippery trails and unclear paved paths and holding onto the tree branches for support. On meeting the gorillas, spend one hour watching them carry on their daily lives, and taking several pictures as you want as long as the camera doesn’t have a flash. After the one hour, descend back to the headquarters and to the lodge for lunch.
In the evening, have a community walk to the Batwa. Enjoy the traditional performances, taste the local cuisines and also have personal interactions with these forest people.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking & Fly to Entebbe
In the morning, head to the park headquarters for a simple briefing and then enter into the forest to search out for the golden monkeys. Unlike gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking is way much easier since these colorful primates live in one station for a long period. You have one hour in their presence, watching them and taking many pictures as you want. After transfer to Kisoro Airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe.
When you reach to Entebbe, you will either transfer to a hotel of your choice or to the airport. That will be the end of your three days Mgahinga flying safari.
