4 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trek & Lake Bunyonyi Leisure Safari – The four days are enough to explore Bwindi impenetrable national park, trek the gorillas, encounter with the Batwa forest people as well as visiting Lake Bunyonyi; Africa’s second deepest lake after Lake Tanganyika in Tanzania.
Day 1: Fly to Bwindi & Batwa Community Visit
Early morning, obviously after breakfast, be picked from the lodge where you slept the previous night and be driven straight to Kajjansi airstrip. Charter or use a scheduled flight to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. Upon arrival at Kahihi airstrip. Be transferred to the lodge for relaxation and checking in.
In the afternoon visit the Batwa community for a cultural encounter with these forest people. They are believed to be the first inhabitants of Bwindi impenetrable forest. A cultural encounter with the Batwa takes you through how they used to hunt and gather fruits in the forest. You will enjoy, or even engage in the traditional performances. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Have an early morning breakfast, and set out to the park headquarters for a simple briefing from the local guide about the dos and donts of gorilla trekking. Now enter into the forest to search out for the endangered mountain gorillas. Walk through the tropical forest on sounds of the beautiful birds. Spend one full hour in the presence of the mighty apes on meeting them, just watching them carry on their daily lives. After the one hour elapses, descend back to the park headquarters and to the lodge.
After a satisfying lunch, drive to Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s deepest lake and Africa’s second deepest lake after Lake Tanganyika in Tanzania. Arrival will be in the evening just for checking in and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Zip Lining & Boat Cruise
In the morning after breakfast, have a zip lining experience above Lake Bunyonyi, an activity so thrilling for the adventurous tourists. After lunch, go for an afternoon canoeing on Lake Bunyonyi to explore some of the 25 islands that the lake encompasses including the punishment island where girls who became pregnant before marriage were isolated from as a punishment. You will also enjoy a sunset boat ride in the evening.
Day 4: Fly back to Entebbe
Early morning after breakfast, drive to the airstrip and fly back to Entebbe.
