Detailed Bwindi Gorilla Trek & Masai Mara Luxury Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed and received by our driver-guide.
He will brief you about the entire trip as he transfers you to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
This journey offers clearer views of the Virunga ranges, a chained series of volcanoes shared by the African countries of Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking and Batwa Community Visit
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing.
You will be grouped into eights, the maximum number of people allowed to visit a gorilla family per day.
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park takes you through the tropical forest, walking along slippery trails on unclear paths.
Upon meeting these mighty apes, spend one magical hour in their presence as they go about their daily lives.
Nothing is more thrilling than watching a silverback’s intense gaze.
After the hour, return to the lodge via the park headquarters.
After lunch, visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience with the reformed poachers.
Learn how these forest pygmies used to hunt and gather in the forest.
Enjoy traditional performances and local cuisine.
The evening will be memorable.
Day 3: Travel to Kigali and Fly to Masai Mara
Today, you will fly from Kigali International Airport to Nairobi International Airport in Kenya to connect to Masai Mara National Reserve.
A driver will be waiting to transfer you to the lodge.
The evening at the lodge will be relaxed, allowing you to refresh from the previous activities.
Day 4: Full-Day Game Drive in the Masai Mara
Wake up early, have breakfast, and leave the lodge with a packed lunch for a wildlife drive in search of the animals that roam the vast plains of the Masai Mara Reserve.
Likely encounters include predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hippos, elephants, zebras, buffaloes, black rhinos, spotted hyenas, bat-eared foxes, Masai giraffes, warthogs, jackals, baboons, black-striped Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, Coke’s hartebeests, impalas, topis, and wildebeests.
A full-day drive will give you the opportunity to see the abundant wildlife the reserve has to offer.
In the evening, we will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Wildebeest Migration Experience and Maasai Community
Early in the morning after breakfast, take another game drive to the migration trail along the Mara River.
The great wildebeest migration becomes even more dramatic when the animals cross the Mara River, with crocodiles dramatically attacking the wildebeests and other migrating animals.
After lunch, visit the Maasai Cultural Village for an encounter with one of the world’s kindest and most hospitable peoples.
Enjoy traditional dances, taste local delicacies, and have personal interactions with the Maasai.
