Detailed 6-Day Bwindi Gorilla Trek & Masai Mara Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by your driver-guide. After a short briefing about the trip, you will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the way, enjoy views of the Virunga mountain ranges, a chain of volcanoes shared by Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo. Arrive at your lodge, check in, have dinner, and rest for the night.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Visit
After an early breakfast, go to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. You will be divided into groups of eight people, which is the maximum number allowed to visit one gorilla family each day.
The trek takes you through thick tropical forest trails that can be slippery and uneven. When you finally meet the gorillas, spend one full hour observing them as they feed, play, and move around. Watching a silverback protect its family is a moment you will never forget. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
In the afternoon, visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience. Learn about their former life as forest hunters and gatherers, enjoy their traditional dances, and taste local food. This evening will be filled with cultural memories before you return to your luxury Uganda lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Travel to Kigali and Fly to Masai Mara
After breakfast, drive back to Kigali International Airport for your flight to Nairobi in Kenya. Upon arrival, you will connect to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Your driver will meet you and transfer you to your lodge, where you can relax and refresh after the day’s travel.
Day 4: Full-Day Game Drive in the Masai Mara
Wake up early, have breakfast, and set out with a packed lunch for a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara. The vast plains of the reserve are home to an incredible variety of wildlife. You may see lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, rhinos, giraffes, hyenas, jackals, antelopes, topis, and wildebeests.
Your full-day drive gives you plenty of time to explore and enjoy the park’s rich wildlife. In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Wildebeest Migration and Maasai Community Visit
After breakfast, take another game drive to the Mara River to see the wildebeest migration. Watching thousands of animals cross the river while crocodiles wait in the water is one of Africa’s most dramatic wildlife scenes.
After lunch, visit a Maasai village to learn about the culture and traditions of the Maasai people. You will enjoy traditional dances, taste local dishes, and interact with the community before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Departure
After breakfast, your driver-guide will transfer you to the airport for your international flight back home. This marks the end of your 6-day Bwindi Gorilla Trek and Masai Mara Luxury Safari Experience.
