The 6-Day Serengeti Safari & Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Experience takes you to both Rwanda and Tanzania.
The trip begins in Kigali and takes you to Volcanoes National Park, a premier gorilla tracking destination in Rwanda.
Afterwards, you will fly to Tanzania’s Arusha Airport, where you will be picked up and transferred to Serengeti National Park by road, or you may choose to fly directly to the park.
The park is home to Africa’s Big Five and is ideal for viewing the great wildebeest migration.
Detailed Serengeti Safari & Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon your arrival at Kigali Airport, our company representative or driver/guide will be waiting to welcome you.
He will then transfer you to Volcanoes National Park, known as a haven for mountain gorillas and home to five of the volcanoes that make up the Virunga ranges.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking and Gorilla Guardians Village Visit
Wake up to a hearty and delicious breakfast at your lodge and then drive to the park headquarters.
There, you will be briefed and allocated to random mountain gorilla families for your trek.
You will ascend the mountains, search for gorillas, and spend a full hour with them before returning to your starting point.
Return to the lodge for lunch and afterward, seize the opportunity for a cultural experience by visiting a cultural village of reformed poachers.
The Gorilla Guardians Village is a one-stop center representing all three ethnic groups of Rwanda: the Twa, Hutu, and Tutsi. Enjoy cultural performances and local cuisines.
Day 3: Drive to Kigali, Fly to Arusha, Then Drive to Serengeti National Park
This day, you will wake up early, have breakfast, and depart from Volcanoes National Park to Kigali, a drive of about 2 hours.
Then, fly to Arusha in Tanzania.
At the airport, you will be received by our agent in Tanzania who will transfer you to Serengeti National Park.
You will arrive in the evening to check in, have dinner, and stay overnight.
Day 4: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park
Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast, and embark on a full-day game drive in Serengeti National Park.
This extensive drive is the best way to see the full range of what this magnificent park has to offer.
Our guides will bring you as close as possible to the wildlife, especially during the early morning when the action is most exciting.
Expect to see a variety of wildlife, including the Big Five, colorful birds, and breathtaking landscapes.
You will spot lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, gazelles, wildebeests, zebras, and many others.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Great Migration Viewing and Maasai People Visit
Wake up early, have breakfast, and head out to witness the wildebeest migration spectacle.
Watch as masses of animals form columns, moving in search of pasture and water.
This is one of the most spectacular scenes you will ever witness.
After lunch, you will visit the Maasai people who reside in the Serengeti.
They are proud, nomadic warriors who measure their wealth in cattle and children.
Enjoy their traditional performances and local cuisines.
The Maasai are among the most kind and hospitable people in Africa.
Day 6: Departure
This day marks the end of the 6-day safari.
After breakfast, your driver/guide will take you to Arusha for your international flight.
Alternatively, you can choose to fly directly from the park to Arusha.
