Detailed 7-Day Uganda Luxury Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Wake up early and transfer to Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Kisoro. Upon arrival, your driver-guide will meet you and transfer you to your lodge. After check-in and lunch, visit the Batwa community in the afternoon. The Batwa are believed to be the first inhabitants of the forest. Learn about their daily life, enjoy traditional performances, and taste local food. Return to your luxury Uganda lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Wake up early for breakfast and carry a packed lunch. Your driver will take you to the briefing point by 7:30 a.m. for a short orientation by the Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger. At 8:30 a.m., you will start your trek into the forest in search of the gorillas. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to about half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.
The trek can take between 4 and 8 hours, depending on the gorilla family you are tracking. The activity requires moderate fitness as it involves hiking through dense forest. When you find the gorillas, spend one hour with them before returning to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park (Ishasha Sector)
After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park through the Ishasha sector, which is famous for its tree-climbing lions. Along the way, you may also see elephants, buffaloes, topis, and waterbucks. After lunch en route, continue to your lodge inside the park for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel
Wake up early for breakfast and head out for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains. The area is a known mating ground for Uganda kobs and attracts predators such as lions and leopards. The park is also home to elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and many bird species. After the game drive, return to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, enjoy a two-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The cruise offers great opportunities to see hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, and many water birds such as the African fish eagle, pelicans, and jacanas. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Kibale National Park and Tour of Fort Portal
After breakfast, drive to Kibale National Park, a journey of about three hours. On the way, stop in Fort Portal for a short city tour. Visit Amabere ga Nyina Mwiru caves, the Karambi Royal Tombs, and the Tooro Palace. After the tour, have lunch and continue to your lodge near Kibale National Park for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Wetland Community Visit
After breakfast, transfer to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for a briefing before chimpanzee tracking. You will be guided through forest trails while listening to the sounds of birds and other wildlife. Kibale is home to 13 primate species, 350 bird species, and many butterflies.
When you find the chimpanzees, spend one hour observing them as they feed, play, and swing through the trees. You can take photos as long as your camera has no flash. After tracking, return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community project managed by local residents under KAFRED. The visit supports local tourism and conservation efforts.
Day 7: Transfer Back to Kampala or Entebbe
After breakfast, begin your drive back to Kampala or Entebbe. The journey passes through beautiful tea plantations and rural landscapes. You will have lunch en route and arrive in the late afternoon. Your driver will drop you at the airport or your preferred hotel, marking the end of your safari.
