Detailed 3-Day Fly-In Gorillas & Golden Monkeys Tour

Day 1: Fly to Mgahinga National Park

You will be picked up from your hotel by your experienced driver-guide. He will give you a short briefing about the trip before driving you to Kajjansi Airfield for your flight to Mgahinga National Park. The chartered or scheduled flight saves you from the long 10-hour road journey and offers beautiful aerial views of the countryside.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a short briefing by the ranger guide. Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga involves walking through thick forest trails that can be slippery and sometimes steep. You may need to hold onto branches for support.

When you finally find the gorillas, you will spend one hour watching them feed, play, and move around. You can take as many pictures as you like as long as your camera has no flash. Afterward, return to the park headquarters and then to your luxury Uganda lodge for lunch.

In the evening, enjoy a community visit to the Batwa people. You will watch traditional performances, taste local food, and interact with these friendly forest people to learn about their way of life.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking and Flight Back to Entebbe

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a short briefing before starting your golden monkey trekking adventure. This activity is easier than gorilla trekking since the golden monkeys usually stay in one area for a long time. You will spend one hour with them, watching their playful behavior and taking photos.

After the trek, transfer to Kisoro Airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe. Upon arrival, you can either check into a hotel of your choice or connect directly to the airport for your onward flight. This marks the end of your 3-day Mgahinga flying safari.
